Travel, Vanlife, and Living a Happy Life

My first solo travel experience… was amazing!

By KellyNicoleTravel on December 5, 2016 • ( 2 Comments )

(Since I don’t typically date my blogs, just want to say this was written in 2016…)–  I have been seriously slacking on my blog.  Since my last post forever ago, I did some new things that I am extremely proud of myself for.  I have been on hundreds […]

Why you should walk toward things you’re passionate about…

By KellyNicoleTravel on December 5, 2016 • ( Leave a comment )

(written in 2016) The picture of me above is absolutely perfect for this post.  I can’t tell if I’m walking away from something or walking toward something, but I am currently DOING BOTH in my life.  Walking away from one thing to obtain something better…

Every goal starts somewhere.. why you should start yours now!

My husband and I both recently decided to take action on our “dream jobs”.  His was always to work for himself and own his own company, and mine was to see the world somehow.

Why you should walk away from things that don’t make you happy

You’ve clicked on this for a reason, and unless it was on accident, I’m assuming SOMETHING in your life isn’t keeping you happy.  Whether that’s a job, a relationship, a friendship, or even your overall lifestyle choices…

🥰— It’s been awhile since we’ve had all the windows and doors open in Flo.. and all that light and fresh air is exactly why I wanted windows in our van. . We recently began emptying our belongings out of Flo. The emotions are a mixture of sadness and knowing it’s what is best for us at this point. But while we still have her, I’ll be admiring her beautiful self and reflecting on how she allowed us to reach our goals this year 🖤 #tinyhomebigliving #vanlife
Get you a man who will hold your freezing cold fat feet to keep them warm. — I usually write long captions but all I want to say in this one is I’m thankful for this man and his love for living an adventurous life. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for good ole @tinder for bringing us together from across the world 😛🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿— How’d you meet your sig other? 🖤 #tindersuccessstory #internationallove
Florida trails. Flat, sandy, and typically lead to some sort of water.. whether swamp or ocean. . I wrote about this in my story yesterday but make sure you are making time for YOUR happiness regardless of your schedule, circumstances, or mood. I know that’s easy to say, and maybe a bit cliche to read on here... but are you actually DOING it? For me, being in nature, with my drone and camera, is my happy place.. so even in my own hometown, that’s what I’ve been doing. . We may be “in between” adventures at the moment (which only means staying in one spot till January), but there is still plenty to explore and enjoy. There are so many trails both right IN town and just outside of it.. and always a way to see them from a new angle. — But hiking and photography don’t have to be YOUR happy.. it can be skating, painting, cooking, boating, riding horses, churning butter, gardening, playing an instrument, flying planes, drawing, anything.. just make sure to make time for whatever IT is for YOU🙌🏻🖤 #florida
No matter where we go in this world, and no matter what we live in, I’m so glad you’re the one by my side ♥︎ . ➙ Sorry I have not been as active on here lately. We’ve been enjoying a lot of time with my family and friends for various birthdays & occassions without having my phone out... *BUT here’s the current overall updates on our life* ⤵︎ . ✈︎As you all know, we are going to Europe in January for a bit so: .♥︎1➙ I still have not actually listed our van for sale anywhere but multiple people have messaged me with interest in purchasing Flo... one of which is actually flying down to Florida in about 2 weeks from today to possibly purchase her. I will let the rest of you know if that does or does not work out. .♥︎2➙ Many have asked if we’re doing vanlife over in Europe. If you’ve followed me for awhile, you’d know we already lived the vanlife in Europe in 2018 through 10 countries. So now we are actively browsing what vehicle will work best for us in 2020. Either a 3rd van or something smaller.. we are thinking smaller but we will let you know why when we decide :) .♥︎3➙ As much as you all are asking me “where to next?! And What are you getting next?!” I am reminding myself and you it’s important to enjoy the “in between” time. To still live in the current no matter what. In between adventures, moments, goals, jobs, during the times you feel uninspired. Take that in-between time to write down new goals, explore areas of your hometown you haven’t ventured to yet, catch up on personal health and put time into personal relationships. It’s all important and what I’ll be doing through the holidays here in Florida. Love y’all. ♥︎Kelly
Jupiter, Florida. I just got back from a solo trip to the beach flying my drone around. It’s 85 degrees here in sunny south Florida today, in mid November. But after my last post on here I received a few repetitive questions so I just want to clear them up: 1- I am American. I’m from Florida. But Dave is British. When I say we are going “back” to Europe in January, it does not mean I’m going back to my home country. My home country is the US. I only said ‘back to’ Europe because we traveled around parts of it in 2018. 2- Yes, we are VERY sad to sell her. She’s our home. The reason is for nothing other than we don’t want to bring her overseas for various reasons. It is just what is best and smartest for us at this time. Our lives continually change to adapt to what’s next in our lives. As I assume everyone’s does! :) 3- She (the van) is not even officially for sale yet as we will be using her until at least December but I have already received a few inquiries which is amazing. The internet is crazy but I am grateful for both it and all of you. 4- Regardless where we are or what we live in, I will always try and promote both the outdoors and doing what makes you happy. I have from day 1. Even if it requires change in your life. Continue taking steps toward your goals regularly and actively. Nobody is able to change your happiness more than you can. Love y’all! - Kelly
Last night we slept in the driveway of my sisters house. She has a spare bedroom which was definitely offered to us.. but I said I liked sleeping in my van and chose the driveway. Haha. But perhaps I chose to do so because we don’t plan on keeping her for much longer. It’s crazy how much this vehicle truly feels like home and I want to enjoy every minute we have with her. It is the first time I am writing this out in words for others to read but: Flo is going to be for sale very soon! Probably available in December! . It’s bittersweet and a whole hot mess mix of emotions. I question myself even saying it out loud because then it becomes real. But it is the smartest choice for us right now as we will be going back to Europe in January and won’t be bringing her along. So I will keep you posted soon on specific details. But for now, just wanted to say that out loud to the world for the first time. Ahhhhh 🖤🚐💔 #vanlife
Glaciers, icebergs, snowy peaks, grizzly bears, horribly paved roads, tiny towns, expensive prices, national parks all about preserving wildlife and landscape, adventure, hiking, rain, snow, midnight sun, and soooo much natural wild BEAUTY.. that is Alaska. & I’m forever grateful to have gone there this year. . Dave and I are currently working for a few weeks in Florida while we prep for our next adventures. *Reminder that YOU and your actions are what will allow you to reach your goals!* We may travel a lot.. but we ourselves fund it all on a budget so weeks like this are necessary. He’s picking up temp work on boats and Im nannying and tutoring. In this “down time” I am also catching up on writing blogs for you guys. I write these to help other people and I just posted 2 new blogs on my website about Alaska! Everything you need to know to drive to Alaska AND Beautiful road-accessible destinations in Alaska itself. Feel free to message me with questions about anywhere we’ve traveled. I love sharing and helping. Love you guys!! #alaska #travelblogger
Want to know what’s awesome? THE SUN ☀️ — It heats up that solar shower bag you see hanging on the side of our van to allow us to take hot water showers AND it charges up those solar panels on our roof to power literally everything inside of our van. I am able to run our ceiling fan every single night all night, charge up all of our electronics, use our water pump, use all our lighting, etc.. completely offgrid, and without an electric bill, because of the sun. . If you saw my stories today, it will tell you where were headed in January. & I think no matter where we end up in the future, if we ever settle down, I will want to invest in solar power for our home. #vanlife
We freaking did it!! We drove all the way from Florida to Alaska and back. Southeastern most to northwestern most. With soo many other places along the way. (*Swipe to second picture to see the 18,000 mile route we drove this year + our Europe route last year*). I’m having a hard time putting how I feel about this into words for a caption. There is so much I could say about everything it has allowed us to see and feel and experience. But to keep it short, it has been the ‘roadtrip’ of a lifetime. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. & We could never have done it without living in this tiny space fulltime. . I like to remind y’all to make sacrifices to DO what makes you happy and do things to REACH those goals you have in your mind. - Last year, after driving a few thousand miles around Europe in a different van, we decided our 2019 goal was to explore North America and get to Alaska. Literally just a year ago we made that our goal. And we did it. Bought and built out a second used van on an extremely tight budget all on our own, picked up temp work on the road along the way, and dealt with challenges as they were thrown at us having no idea if what we were doing would work out. But we kept pushing through everything to make it happen. We couldn’t feel more proud and satisfied now. Crushing a goal through all the ups and downs is such an amazing feeling. But the memories made of the places seen is the best part of it all. Those memories are ours forever 🖤#vanlife
