Scotland has such an endless amount of beautiful natural areas that it can be hard to narrow down which places to visit or hike. To help you find one or more hikes to complete, I have shared 10 of my favorite day hikes on this page, ranging in length from 3/4 of a mile to 11 miles, so that at least one of these will be in your ability level.

1. Gray Mare’s Tail Waterfall/Loch Skeen
Length: 2.6 miles roundtrip up to Loch, but can see waterfall from the road
Location: south central, in Moffat Valley
Length: 7 miles roundtrip
Location: west coast, in the Arrochar Alps
3. The Storr
Length: 2.5 miles on average, multiple trails around it
Location: northwest, on Isle of Skye
Length: 4 mile loop

5. Ben Nevis – highest peak in UK
Length: 10.5 miles
Location: west coast, in Fort William
6. Ben Macdui– 2nd highest peak in UK
Length: 11 mile loop, but multiple trail options
Location: Cairngorms National Park
7. The Hidden Valley
Length: 2 miles roundtrip
Location: west coast, in Glencoe Valley
8. Ben Hope
Length: 5 miles roundtrip
Location: north coast, near Loch Hope & Lairg

Length: 3/4 miles loop (.7 miles)
