In a world that is continually becoming more dependent on technology, many people have gained the ability to work virtually anywhere around the globe. The wanderlust inside us digital nomads means we love to constantly move around from one place to the next. Yet, sometimes a place is needed to temporarily set up shop, get work done, or hold meetings before continuing onto the next destination. Other people work from the comfort of their own home, but occasionally need to “rent” a space to hold a staff meeting. Because of all this, there is an increasing demand for places known as “shared work spaces”. They provide an unconventional yet productive environment to work solo, to meet with a small group, to host a large mega meeting, or potentially make new connections with like-minded individuals. Cool right?!
But where does one find a space like this? Coworker.com is the perfect place to look. It is like the AirBNB of the office world. They currently provide over 5500 work spaces throughout the globe. You can book spaces in advance for daily, weekly, or monthly use, without the hassle of a crazy contract. Just search by your area, by popularity/reviews, by size, etc. Coworker basically does the tough searching for you, and all you have to do is choose which one you like most. Want the one with the best reviews? Or the one with the biggest space? How about one with a pool or on the ocean instead of staring at walls inside? Coworker provides them all. You are able to easily find a space based on your wants and needs.
Personally, I am an “adventure traveler” who often takes the road less traveled. I most often find myself on mountains and in small towns. So my question was if Coworker provided spaces outside of major cities.. and sure enough they had a section titled “Rural Escapes”. They have something for everyone.
Most spaces provide basic equipment such as wifi, printers, copiers, and a variety of seating options (even bean bags!) Some even provide beverages (woot woot) and other amenities.
However, it’s not just about the physical space and tangible stuff provided. It’s also the atmosphere. For me personally, a shared workspace would benefit me simply just because of the environment they provide. For example, when I go for a run by myself, I often lack the motivation and inspiration to do my best workout. But when someone else is running near me, working out harder than me, or just pushing themselves to keep going.. I, for some reason, run faster, push myself harder, or run further than I do when I’m alone. For some reason, it works. Coworking spaces have the same effect. When there are others around you working to reach their goals, setting new ones, crushing their dreams, it has a tendency to motivate you to do the same. Plus, you never know who you may meet and what connections you could form. So go take a look.
Here are just 5 (of over 5500) examples of very different work spaces available. (The photos are not mine, they are taken directly from Coworker‘s website.)

Trashed Tech located in United Kingdom

Ambiente CoNectar located in Brazil

NomadLife located in Nicaragua

Wip located in Split Croatia

Upscale located in Saudi Arabia
You can see the spaces vary from indoor to outdoor, conventional desks to unconventional bean bags, and contemporary to modern to rustic to laid back atmospheres. Remember, they are in over 7000 spaces across 125 countries! As their hashtag says, #WorkOutsidetheBox…. Happy Working 🙂
